SkillZone: Champions of the ENG WLPL!

It’s official! SkillZone U10 Platinum are the champions of the ENG WLPL 24/25 Season. 18 games played, 17 victories. What a season it’s been.

Congratulations to our coach, Sam Claeys, who has lead the team brilliantly throughout the season. Balancing a squad of 11 talented players for 7-a-side comes with it’s challenges, but it’s been a priviledge to watch the team grow.

Our goalkeeper, Stanley Edmonds, was awarded with the Golden Glove award for his clean sheets and performances. This also lead to trial opportunities at Chelsea FC & MK Dons. What a season for our Stan.

Our midfield maestro, Seb Clough, was picked as the Ballon D’Or winner across the whole league. Singled out amongst over 400 players for being the best player in the league. Some achievement, and one that didn’t surprise us, after his performances this season. Seb has also had trial opportunities with AFC Wimbledon, Watford FC & Chelsea FC this year.

Goals, goals, goals! Jesse Neufville, SkillZone’s number 9. What a striker. What an athlete. What a young man! The star of ENG’s Instagram channel this season for his honest and bubbly interviews on camera. Jesse will be the first to tell you that he couldn’t have won this award without his team, and the quality players behind him creating chances. He also deserves individual credit for his hard work and efforts on the pitch. Constantly pressing opposition players, and creating a handful of chances for himself through his perseverance.

George Chipping, Gary Edmondson, Jack Latchford, Oscar Gandolfi, Jayden Singh, Joe Rice, Flynn Lake, Riley Hitchin, Lewis Pearson, Stanley Edmonds, Seb Clough & Jesse Neufville – thank you for an amazing season.

A special shoutout to our U10 Blues team, led superbly by coach Owain Williams, picking up a solid 4th place after a slow start to the season. Our U11 team also found a 4th place finish, once again, finishing the season strong after a slow start.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their support and commitment this season, it’s been an absolute pleasure to see the birth of SkillZone teams competing in league football for the first time. Now, on to next season, where we go bigger, and much better.
